Savannah Chapter 1263
You Need Not Walk Alone

Savannah Chapter Leadership
"The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers" Terri Guillemets quote

Debbie Doty Floyd - Chapter Leader
In January 2012 the lives of our family were forever changed. My 19-year-old son TJ was brutally murdered. In December 2012 I attended a candlelight ceremony with The Compassionate Friends Savannah. That started a long journey of healing, learning how to navigate grief and how to use this tragedy to help others.
The Compassionate Friends Savannah allowed me a safe space to talk about losing my son and about the loss of my brothers. My brother Michael died from bacterial meningitis, Bobby aspirated and died after a simple day surgery and my stepbrother Carl died by suicide. In addition to these losses, I have been able to share about my miscarriages from over 40 years ago.
I became the leader of TCF Savannah on April 1, 2015. I had decided soon after my son's death that I wanted to eventually use the experience to help others. In preparation for that, I attended The Grief Recovery Institute and became a Grief Recovery Specialist in January 2014. I have attended several Leadership Classes with The Compassionate Friends in the past 12 years to help me learn to facilitate meetings. I also have gone through training with Parents of Murdered Children and am a Georgia Contact for them.
My goal is to be able to reach out to those that need us and to give them hope. Please don't hesitate to call me at 912-507-0914.
You Need Not Walk Alone

Jan Williams - Chapter Co-Leader
Welcome! As you navigate the complex journey of grief, please know you need not walk alone.
I am Joe's mom and Jeri's sister. Joe was in a single car accident he died on Thanksgiving Day, after spending a week in ICU in a coma. He was born on Christmas Day and was only 18 years old. Joe is missed every day. My sister died after my son did. I once again found myself needing to work on my grief. All losses are difficult.
Through support, I am learning to grieve fully and live fully.
I am a certified grief educator, having completed David Kessler's grief education program and I co-lead a GriefShare session through GriefShare. I am a supportive member of The Compassionate Friends Savannah. My mission is supporting others, providing compassion and understanding as we navigate this difficult path together. I strive to be a compassionate mother, wife, and friend, dedicated to supporting those in need.
Love and Hugs,
Jan Williams
